Unlikely Angel

Unlikely Angel is 1996 fantasy movie. The film is lighthearted Christmas movie and should be seen as such. Unlikely Angel is among other Christmas movies shown during Christmas. Ruby Diamond (Dolly Parton) is a singer and doesn’t care much about anyone else except herself. As the fate would have it she dies in a road accident. As her spirit parts from her body, she meets St. Peter.

Christmas is near and St. Peter has his own agenda to forward. He forms a contract with Ruby. According to the terms of the contract Ruby would be sent to earth again and is charged with the mission to unite a family. She has to accomplish her mission till the midnight before Christmas in which case she would be given the wings to fly and if she remains unsuccessful, she would be punished for her deeds on earth.

Ruby returns to earth and is a maid at the house of Bartilsons. The Bartilson family is in doldrums. Sarah is Mr. Bartilsons daughter and is a fiery soul. Ruby starts to mend the father-daughter relationship but her efforts are yet to bear fruits meanwhile Bartilsons son Matthew leaves the home prompting an appearance of St. Peters to remind her of her mission and dead line. Ruby by now has started loving the family and tells St. Peter that whether or not she is granted an entry into the heaven she would keep trying to mend the relationships between family members.

At last she leaves the earth albeit unwillingly while Bartilsons are busy celebrating their Christmas together.
